Rights and Responsibilities
- You have the right to an application
- You have the right to bring someone with you to meet with your caseworker
- We will inform you in writing if we make any decision that affects your assistance
- If you do not agree with a decision we make, you have the right to ask for a review
- You are required to attend an employment orientation session as part of your eligibility
- You will complete a Literacy Screen if you have not completed grade 12
- If you are awaiting other funds you will have to sign an agreement to repay the assistance received
- You will be required to meet with your caseworker every three months
- You are to report all income, assets and expenses to your caseworker and keep all your receipts
- If any of your living circumstances change or you are leaving the province, call your caseworker
You must contact your caseworker if you have any changes .

Staff will share the following information with Ontario Works applicants:
Manditory Requirements and Obligations
- Ontario Works helps people find employment as quickly as possible
- Participation activities, as determined with your caseworker, are mandatory
Information about Employment Assistance Measures
- Staff will identify local resources available to participants
- Staff will explain other supports available to assist with participation
Development of Participation Agreement
- Participation is mandatory
- The goal of the agreement is to obtain work
- The plan is flexible and must meet participant's needs
Identification of Skills and Qualifications
- Staff will assist participants in identifying skills and qualifications
- Staff will provide information about skills needed in the local labour market
Rights and Responsibilities
- Applicants have a right to an interview, a decision and to have decisions reviewed
- During the interview the caseworker will review rights and responsibilities
Compliance
- Ongoing eligibility for Ontario Works requires continued compliance with the rules of eligibility, including participation requirements
Appeal Process
- Staff will review the appeal process
