Gate #1 at the Waterloo Landfill is closed for the summer

Gate #1 will be closed for the summer months for scale renovations. Commercial trucks and vehicles are asked to access the landfill through Gate #3 until further notice. Residents will still be able to pick up Green Bins and Blue Boxes at Gate #1.

Residential drop-off services remain the same at Gate #2.

Please note: There will be no change to collection services for Labour Day, there will be collection on Monday September, 6th.

1. Can I put a toilet out for curbside collection? YES! Separate the bowl and the tank into two pieces and place at the curb. If you cannot separate them, they can be dropped off at the landfill where we will use them to make roads.

2. Large item collection - do I need to call ahead? NO. Furniture, mattresses, appliances, and televisions can be put at the curb for pick up. Refrigerators and freezers must have the doors or lids removed or duct taped shut.

3. Can I use plastic compostable or biodegradable bags in my Green Bin? NO, these bags are not acceptable in our Green Bin Program. Only paper bags will be collected.
