Restoring bicycles for our community
This program has 3 important goals:
1. Teach useful bicycle repair skills.
2. Provide refurbished bikes to people in need in our community.
3. Divert material from landfill.
*
How does this program work?
*
Old, unwanted, broken bicycles are dropped off at the Waterloo Transfer Station.
*
Partners involved in the program pick up the bicycles.

Through partners like the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and Recycle Cycles, high school students and others learn new bicycle repair skills.

Thanks to the generous donations of
Regional residents, over
9 metric tonnes of bikes were
diverted from landfill and reused.
That’s over 700 bikes! |

Please note:
- If you set your bike out to the curb – it will be taken as garbage and landfilled. So, please save valuable landfill space and drop off your bike for this program.
- Bikes dropped off are for the use of pre-approved partners ONLY. Salvaging is not permitted as per By-law 98-87.
- The bikes which the partners cannot repair or refurbish get recycled as scrap metal.
